The Museum serves as a central site for intellectual engagement, artistic contemplation, and social activity. As a primary teaching resource for the College and the greater community, the Museum sits at the crossroads of interdisciplinary thinking and facilitates stimulating encounters between students, faculty, and community members who share the liberal arts experience.

Meet the owners….Jennifer Stevens and Rae Ann Lajoie. Jennifer comes to this field with a passion for children that has been with her since she was a child herself. She has an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education, a Bachelors Degree in Mental Health and Human Services and a Masters Degree in Social Work. She owns a private practice for counseling in Waterville and also has supported many families as a Guardian ad Litem. Rae Ann has over 30 years in retail and management and brings with her the expertise of food and nutrition along with excellent people skills. Serving the community is an important piece for both Jennifer and Rae Ann and they believe that providing a superior childcare center is what is next for them in being able to provide. Between Jennifer and Rae Ann they have 7 grandchildren and are active in their lives. Giving children the very best beginning in life is very important to both of them!

At our location in Fairfield, we recently completed the construction of a new wing and expanded our programs through sixth grade. We now offer Primary and Elementary Montessori programs to over 120 children from ages 3 to 12. Our classrooms are all multi-age: three Primary classrooms (ages 3-6), two Lower Elementary classrooms (ages 6-9) and our new Upper Elementary classroom (ages 9-12).

The school stands on 14 acres of fields and woodlands, with a stream and beautiful views, convenient to Interstate 95. Children can cross-country ski in winter and garden in the spring and summer sessions. There is a large playground that overlooks an adjoining farm. The facilities are bright and cheerful. The classrooms and the day care room each have their own bathroom, kitchen unit, and door to the outside playground and gardens.
Students come from diverse backgrounds, bringing together the families of teachers, farmers, artists, professionals and business people. Many commute from surrounding communities, including Pittsfield, Clinton, Freedom, Skowhegan, Belgrade, China, Vassalboro, and Augusta.
Kennebec Valley Community College (KVCC) is a 2-year comprehensive community college in the center of Maine serving approximately 2400 students from Somerset, Kennebec, and Knox counties and well beyond. In 2014, KVCC expanded its Fairfield-based operation to include a new 600-acre Harold Alfond Campus in Hinckley, Maine. Over the past four years, KVCC has invested nearly $30 million in college programs, infrastructure, and buildings including construction of the new KVCC Center for Science and Agricultural Education, the 120-acre organic farm at KVCC (including education facility, vegetable processing center, equipment, implements, systems, soils, livestock, greenhouses, shelters, fields), a new state-of-the-art culinary arts facility and demonstration kitchen, the largest carpentry lab in the northeast, an indoor electrical lineworker training facility, two medical simulation labs, an early childhood outdoor family education lab, a CNC machine tool lab, a welding lab, and many other important updates including a vast overhaul of IT equipment, software, and computers. KVCC’s new Alfond Campus and the revitalized Fairfield campus offer an unparalleled environment for inspiring new academic energy and innovative thinking. KVCC is a collegial environment emphasizing student success and respect for employees, students, and the community.

The Maine Children’s Home for Little Wanderers features a full Hague-accredited adoption program that provides assistance to families hoping to adopt internationally or domestically. The Maine Children’s Home, founded in 1899, gives children and Maine families hope for the future and a chance at a better life. In addition to the adoption program, the agency offers outpatient counseling, the Teen Parent School Program, The Children’s Place Early Care and Education Center, a summer camp scholarship program, and a Christmas Program that provides clothing and toys to underprivileged Maine children.
The Mid-Maine Regional Adult Community Education program strives to provide affordable, quality, continuing education opportunities that meet the academic, professional and personal interests of the residents of Belgrade, China, Oakland, Rome, Sidney, Vassalboro, Waterville and Winslow. Through the collaborative efforts of these school districts and community agencies we are able to offer a vast array of programs and classes that welcome adults with varying needs and interests.

Waterville, Maine is a safe, welcoming community of 15,600 residents located along the scenic Kennebec River, which runs alongside Thomas College. Waterville is part of the Kennebec-Chaudière Corridor, an international arts and culture route.
In Waterville, you’ll find the Waterville Opera House, Colby College, the Redington Museum, community and farmers’ markets, and the Railroad Square Cinema. Waterville plays host to an international film festival, the annual Taste of Greater Waterville culinary event, and numerous arts and cultural events throughout the year. The downtown district has many excellent restaurants, shopping areas, art galleries, coffee shops, and student-friendly cafés.
Greater Waterville has numerous outdoor recreation areas, including the Pine Ridge Golf Course and trails for hiking and biking. Maine is known as “Vacationland,” and it’s easy to see why, with access to mountains, islands, beaches, rocky cliffs and some of the nation’s best food, arts, and cultural amenities. Waterville is located a little more than an hour from Maine’s biggest city, Portland, which offers students many opportunities for entertainment, internships, and field trips. We’re also close to metropolitan areas including Lewiston/Auburn, Bangor, and Augusta, the state’s capitol city.
