Bacon Farm Maple Products,LLC is located in Sidney, Maine at the intersection of Route 23 and the Goodhue Road, is now in our sixth generation of sugar makers. Our farm was originally founded in 1881 by Henry Otis Bacon and operated as a dairy and market farm. Maple syrup was produced in the spring to supplement the dairy.
The farm is currently owned and operated by Kevin & Shelley Bacon, along with our son Nathan. We are proud of our heritage and lifestyle and our primary focus is to maintain the quality and care in our products and offerings as our great, great, great grandparents did when they produced small batches of syrup for their family and neighbors.
In the early weeks of each year, our corner of Sidney is transformed preparing to check the tubing setup in the woods and being sure they survived the winter snow, tapping over 3500 trees, beginning the collection of sap, boiling sap into syrup, and bottling the syrup ready for our family, friends, and customers to enjoy. When Maine Maple Sunday Weekend arrives(the 4th Sunday in March), the sides of the road are lined with cars as far as one’s eyes can see with visitors, young and young at heart, anxious to see, smell, and enjoy the maple goodness.

We started our journey in 2019, and our vision is to source most of our cider apples from our farm in Albion, right on the border of Freedom, Maine (hence “Freedom’s Edge”). But our trees are still maturing, and for today we still purchase apples from a number of orchard partners around Central Maine. Despite this, our commitment to you is the same: We will ensure that the apples from our partners’ orchards are grown with the same sense of care and stewardship of the land as our own.

We choose age old technology with fresh intention, in an effort to build a lasting agricultural economy for the seed sowers and bread makers of the future.

Through use of our traditional stone milling process, we preserve the exceptional flavor and nutrition inherent in the grain. Slow turning mill stones keep the flour cool which improves performance in natural fermentation baking and enhances flavor. Our freshly milled flour is ideal for all-purpose baking and cooking.

From Field To Loaf
New England has a rich history of producing grains like oats, rye, wheat, corn, and buckwheat. Maine Grains is reviving this tradition to ensure that nutritious local grains are available and affordable for our community. Outside of commodity pricing and markets, Maine Grains works directly with each of its farmers to create transparent, sustainable, and economically feasible trade relationships. Farmers supplying Maine Grains pledge never to use chemical fertilizers or pesticides on their grain crops. The Maine Grains milling facility is certified organic through the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association.

Frank’s career in the marine business began as a technician for Hancock’s Marine on the New Meadows River in Brunswick, Maine in 1959. Ten years later, he established Frank’s Marine Service in Bath, Maine. Frank became a partner in The Longreach Company in Bath in 1972. Longreach is where his son, Garret, began learning the marine trade. When Frank sold Longreach in 1984 he was able to realize his dream of opening a marine dealership in the Belgrade Lakes Region. Frank’s philosophy in business has always been to provide outstanding service through honesty and integrity. His motto is “Service, Service, Service”; believing that good service is the only way to build a loyal clientele. Having spent the first 26 years of his marine career as a technician, owner, and service manager he practices what he preaches: Mid-Maine Marine Inc. proudly guarantees all of its products and services. Frank has now been in the Marine Business for over 50 years and has surrounded himself with an outstanding crew of service technician’s, sales staff, service personnel, and family. Tree Spirits

To produce excellent wines and spirits from local Maine products and to have fun doing it is our goal. We use locally sourced pear and apple ciders and maple syrup to produce internationally recognized sparkling and still wines and 80 proof spirits. Our 130 proof Absinthe Verte, the only one distilled in New England, was named Best Spirit by Down East Magazine in 2016. All of our spirits have won awards in either San Francisco or New York City international competitions. Officially, our tasting room is open from March thru December, although unofficially it’s open whenever you see a car in the yard.
