Kristina Cannon, Executive Director Main Street Skowhegan

As executive director of Main Street Skowhegan (MSS), Kristina Cannon is the central coordinator of the organization’s strategic projects. She spends much of her time managing and fundraising for the Run of River Whitewater Recreation Area, a community development initiative to construct a whitewater park for paddling, surfing, and tubing in Skowhegan’s downtown river gorge as well as a major trail network and riverfront promenade. Kristina also manages the Skowhegan AmeriCorps Outdoor Recreation Program, which provides free outdoor recreation activities and gear for community members.

Kristina was a 2019 Mainebiz Next List honoree, recognizing dynamic individuals who are changing Maine’s economy and making a significant impact in their industry. Under her leadership, MSS was awarded, by the Maine Office of Tourism, the 2019 Governor’s Conference on Tourism Award for Marketing & Promotion for the organization’s work to promote the town and region during the 2018 Skowhegan Moose Festival. Prior to her tenure at MSS, Kristina was awarded a 2011 Service Industry Advertising Gold Award and was named a CASE 2013-14 SimpsonScarborough Scholar, an accolade recognizing young marketing professionals in higher education.

A Maine Network Partners Fellow, Kristina values collaboration and serves on several boards and committees, including the Kennebec Valley Tourism Council as Vice President of the Board and Marketing Committee Chair, Skowhegan Economic Development Corporation, and the Wesserunsett Arts Council.

Kristina has twelve years of experience in the marketing communications field, having worked at a Boston advertising agency and most recently in the communications office at Colby College. Kristina graduated magna cum laude from Emerson College with a bachelor’s in integrated marketing communications and earned a master’s in marketing from Southern New Hampshire University. A native Mainer and Carrabec High School graduate, Kristina grew up on Williams Farm in North Anson and currently lives just a mile from her childhood home with her husband, John, and several fur babies. She loves to travel and relishes adventures in the Maine woods while paddle boarding, mountain biking, skiing, camping, fishing, and trail running with her Labrador Retrievers

Cost per person: $20 members, $25 at the door & non-members or day of event.
