DESCRIPTION:Motivated by the current project of a trail through Waterville’s Pine Grove
  Cemetery, Véronique Plesch’s illustrated talk aims at providing historical
  context. Surveying millennia of funerary practices, from the ancient Egypt
 ians through today, the lecture will stop at some salient moments in histor
 y and consider what we can learn from cemeteries.  \nVéronique Plesch is Pr
 ofessor of Art History and chair of the Art Department at Colby College, wh
 ere she has taught since 1994. She is the author and editor of nine books a
 nd over 100 articles in English, French, Italian, and Spanish. In 2019, she
  became one of the editors of the Maine Arts Journal: Union of Maine Visual
  Arts Quarterly, to which she regularly contributes.\nDoor opens at 6:00 p.
