Childcare Services Specialist 7/1/25 – 12/30/25, $33/hour, 40 weekly. This position is hybrid, with at least two days a week in DHHS central office or a district office, with preference for the Augusta office, and up to three days a week working from home. The Office of Child and Family Services has a dedicated team supporting a strong early care and education system in Maine. As a Child Care Services Specialist, you will support the implementation of a new pilot program in Maine for staff working in licensed child care programs to receive child care assistance their own children and support access to the Child Care Affordability Program (CCAP).
This position does not require direct supervision of any staff.
Duties/Responsibilities:
•Ongoing communication with key partners, including child care providers and parents.
•Connecting program data from this pilot with the Child Care Affordability Program.
•Implementing key program components such as processing information from child care providers and families, collection of data, and preparation of program reports.
•Developing and recommending new and revised policies and procedures to improve program operations and meet recipient needs.
Requirements:
Education and Experience:
•An eight (8) year combination of education and/or professional experience in social services or early care and education
Skills and Knowledge:
•Knowledge of budgeting, program development, evaluation, and quality assurance.
•Ability to develop and implement program goals and objectives.
•Ability to collect and analyze information, reach logical conclusions, and make sound decisions.
•Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
