Position Title: Accountant II (Bursar) Salary Range: Salary and benefits commensurate with the Agreement between the Maine Community College System and the MSEA Support Services Bargaining Unit; Range 17, Salary $20.14 – $22.82/hr. ($41,891.20 -$47,465.60).
Responsibilities This position applies advanced accounting principles and techniques to a full range of financial functions with particular emphasis on the bursar’s office, including: generates charges, invoices students, manages accounts receivable, applies financial aid and grant awards, oversees cash receipts, issues student refunds, allocates charges and credits to the proper student accounts, interprets government regulations and college and departmental policies and procedures, as well as offers technical advice to others. This position also provides oversight to the cashier and collections functions and serves as back-up to the cashier, as necessary. This position primarily works on the Fairfield Campus from 8 am – 5 pm, Monday through Friday. Qualifications A Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field is required; one year of experience is required in frontline customer service; supervisory experience to include scheduling, work assignments and training; and responsible financial management experience to include accounts receivable management, billing functions or credit/collections management.
