Healthy Communites of the Capital Area (HCCA) is now recruiting new members for our Board of Directors! HCCA's mission is to partner with community members to improve the health and quality of life locally, throughout Kennebec County, the Central public health district, and across the state. Funding for HCCA efforts come largely from state, federal, and philanthropic grants to improve health primarily in the areas of reducing tobacco use and exposure, healthy eating, being active, and preventing alcohol, marijuana and other drug misuse. Healthy Communities of the Capital Area board members are individuals who help carry out the organization's mission to convene and support individuals, organizations, and communities to collaborate on quality of life and public health issues. Board members also support HCCA's Core Values of Authentic Engagement, Sense of Place, Equity, Honesty, Dedication, and Wellbeing.As a group, HCCA board members provide strategic guidance, are representative of different geographic areas across HCCA's local service area of Kennebec County, represent different demographics, and possess skills, expertise, and lived experience to help the organization thrive. Areas of expertise that the board is currently seeking include knowledge of non-profit management with a particular focus on non-profit insurance requirements, federal and state contract management, and fundraising and development; ME food system expertise/involvement in the local food system; and representatives of northern Kennebec County. Abraham Dugal Named Director of Investment Management at Allen Insurance and Financial

Abraham Dugal, CFP®, has been named Director of Investment Management at Allen Insurance and Financial. Dugal has been a financial advisor at Allen since 2015. Sarah E. Catherman, Attorney, Joins Waterville Law Firm, Dominion Law, LLC PA, as Partner

Dominion Law, LLC PA, a, general practice law firm providing personalized service in downtown Waterville, is delighted to welcome Sarah E. Catherman, Esq., as its newest attorney.  A Winslow, Maine native, Sarah brings nearly ten years of legal experience and a strong desire to give back to her community to Dominion Law, joining forces with her husband, Andrew C. Catherman, Esq., who founded the firm in Waterville in 2022. Sarah attended Liberty University for her undergraduate studies, while Andrew pursued his education at The College of William and Mary. Both went on to earn their law degrees from the Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law in 2014 before returning to Andrew's home state of Virginia. During the next seven years, Sarah gained valuable experience serving as a Magistrate, prosecutor, and private attorney.  Meanwhile, Andrew co-founded a law firm in Richmond, Virginia, specializing in criminal defense and family law.   In 2021, Andrew and Sarah made the decision to return to Sarah's childhood home in central Maine, fueled by their deep-rooted desire to raise their family in a smaller, more close-knit community. Sarah joined the respected law firm of Marden, Dubord, Bernier & Stevens, while Andrew found a place practicing small business law at O'Donnell Lee before opening the doors of Dominion Law in 2022.   At Dominion Law, the firm's values of integrity, professionalism, and respect for the community are the driving force behind their success.
