Based on consumer-initiated testing, these results demonstrate Fidium's strength across download speed, upload speed, responsiveness, reliability and gaming experience.

Maine highlights from Fidium’s Q1–Q2 2026 performance rankings: *

  • Fidium earned more than 85 top rankings throughout the state, including for the Portland-Cumberland, Lewiston-Auburn and Bangor markets, as well as communities within Aroostook, Hancock, Knox, Lincoln, Sagadahoc, Washington and York counties.

"From working and learning at home to video calls, high-intensity gaming and multiple connected devices, Mainers expect their internet to perform across everything they do,” said Dan Sumner, chief marketing officer of Fidium. “Ookla's Speedtest analysis demonstrates why Fidium’s symmetrical, 100% fiber network is a strong foundation for today’s connectivity needs and reinforces our position as the leading consumer choice for fast, responsive and reliable service in the markets we serve.”

Fidium's performance leadership in northern New England

The majority of Fidium’s wins were earned across its northern New England service area, reinforcing its position as the region’s leading fiber provider. In addition to top performance rankings in Maine, Fidium was also recognized in New Hampshire and Vermont.

Since 2020, Fidium has invested more than $2 billion in network infrastructure and is on track to surpass 2 million fiber passes by the end of 2027, including 1.5 million in northern New England.

“Our performance across northern New England is a powerful validation of our progress because it reflects both the scale of the network we have built and the measurable value it provides for customers,” said Gabe Waggoner, chief network officer of Fidium. “By expanding fiber access in rural and underserved areas in this region, we’re helping ensure more communities have the high-quality connectivity they need to participate in today’s economy, attract new opportunities and thrive for generations to come."

In total, Fidium earned 370 top performance rankings across 10 states, including:

  • 152 wins for most responsive internet, with latency averaging 30% better than the second-place provider, including cable and wireless providers
  • 108 wins for fastest upload speeds
