Maine Film Center
The Maine Film Center brings together our community's unique film assets to further establish Waterville's reputation as a vibrant, year-round center of film exhibition and education.
The mission of the Maine Film Center is to enrich, entertain and educate the community through film & art.
In 1998, in partnership with Railroad Square Cinema, the Maine Film Center founded the annual Maine International Film Festival (MIFF), which has continued to grow in admission, attendees, and reputation each year. In December 2012, the Maine Film Center took a giant step forward in pursuit of its mission by purchasing Railroad Square Cinema, thereby ensuring a permanent home for MIFF and greatly expanding the opportunities for additional year-round film and arts programming. The Maine Film Center actively collaborates with other community film and arts entities, including Colby College Cinema Studies, the Colby College Museum of Art, the Waterville Opera House, Common Street Arts and the Waterville Public Library.
