Facilities Assistant (part-time)The part-time Facilities Assistant helps ensure a clean, safe, and smoothly operating Library inside and out for all. Health, safety, and excellence are guiding principles of the Waterville Public Library.
• Helps to keep the Library safe, clean, and tidy inside and out
• Proactively works towards promoting a sense of pride in the facilities and grounds
• Serves as a kind, positive, and proactive Library team member
• Provides friendly and polite service to all constituents
• Performs janitorial and lawn maintenance services
• Vacuums carpeted areas; sweeps/mops floors
• Dusts surfaces and bookshelves
• Polishes furniture and other woodwork or brass
• Washes walls, windows, blinds
• Assists with general maintenance such as touchup painting, replacing light bulbs, stocking soap/paper towels/ toilet paper
• Performs general lawn care tasks such as cutting grass, edging/weed eating, pulling weeds, raking, shoveling, salting, snow-blowing
• Picks up debris and empties trash receptacles
• Sets up and breaks down room(s) in support of programs
• Opens cartons and stores supplies in assigned locations
• Performs other duties as assigned
One 10-hour-per-week part-time Facility Assistant position will be filled. The regular schedule is Monday through Friday, approximately 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., with occasional need to work other hours. Pay for this position is $15-$18 per hour, depending on the successful applicant’s qualifications. Paid time off is available.
High school diploma or equivalent required. A minimum of (1) year of previous paid work experience is preferred. Prior experience in facilities maintenance is preferred. Some work experience as a handyman or in a skilled trade is desirable. Physical activities include but are not limited to, standing, walking, bending, turning, stooping, crouching, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, handling, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Some activities are prolonged in nature. Outside work is subject to a variety of weather conditions. Must be able to perform light lifting, exerting up to 45 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
