KVCC - Accounting Assistant II (Cashier)

Position Title: Accounting Assistant II (Cashier) Salary Range: Salary and benefits commensurate with the Agreement between the Maine Community College System and the MSEA Support Services Bargaining Unit Range 12, Salary $17.06 – $19.12/hr. ($35,484.80 -$39,769.60).

Responsibilities The Accounting Assistant II, under general supervision, provides customer service to students, faculty, staff and external parties; performing collection activity, processing cash, checks and credit card payments received over the phone, in-person and by mail; responding to student bill inquiries; maintains current and archive files; assist with other accounts receivable functions, such as estimating uncollectable accounts and filling in for the Bursar when needed. Also provides oversight, training and assisting with student labor and Federal Work Study students. This position primarily works on the Fairfield Campus from 8 am – 5 pm, Monday through Friday. Qualifications An Associate degree in Accounting/Business is required; a Bachelor degree preferred.  Up to and including two years combined experience in collections, accounting, EXCEL, as well as communications and organizational experience. Additional experience working well within a team environment, strong interpersonal, written and oral skills; ability to prioritize and multi-task; database skills and working knowledge of word processing; knowledge of general accounting principles and procedures; ability to analyze and draw conclusions from financial data; and attention to detail and accuracy are essential in performing the functions of the job.
